Disney Princesses (continued)

The thing about these princesses is that they were all minding their own business, living their lives. Evil villains may have had it against them since they were born but their plans never prosper. The princesses always come out on top after the drama. They're all kind - to animals, dwarfs, family and even a giant beast man. Guys "fall in love" with a princess at first sight and then go to extreme lengths to be with her. They always do have that one prince and then they live "happily ever after."

People usually point out how the stories end once man and woman join together but I believe that the stories are not meant to at all be about or against marriage. The stories are about seemingly stunning individuals who are all female characters. When the guys do fall in love at first sight, which obviously seems like frivolous shallowness, it is also obvious that they still always have a mind/freewill of their own. However, marrying the prince is usually pretty much going against all that is expected of the princess because she has been living under someone else's rule/ownership. Things are never as they seem in these princess stories.

Ariel was going through a rebellion/independence-seeking phase, wanting to be a part of another way of life or, as she said, that world (life above sea level). They are all pretty young, these princesses. They have all been estranged by one or both parents, either for their safety or because of death or something. Snow White is the only one where there is no mention of her parents, and so, she was probably "grown." Cinderella was still at home, essentially as a live-in maid. They were all pretty much coming-of-age. Jasmine's story was actually more about Aladdin but it is the same. There's always royalty and prestige involved, whether in a forest or a palace. They've all got exaggerated eyes and long eyelashes. Their hair's thick and smooth. Jewelry is to a minimum but almost-shoulder-length gloves are all the rage. They all have sad beginnings and happy endings and go from rags to riches. Even the princes all look the same, except the beast.

What I find incredible is the way that young girls can connect to the innocence portrayed in the characters. It's a problem that they are usually shown to be powerless victims but that is often how children feel. Children want a lot but don't know how/if they can achieve it. It's a mentality and, once again, these girls overcame it..

Risking

You’d better know the person you’re kissing very well. It connects each of you in a physical/spiritual way. Anytime you are doing something physical, you take a risk. The Bible instructs us to honor God with our bodies and present them as a living sacrifice, pure and holy. It says our bodies are a temple* of the Holy Ghost.

Watch out for:

Character*

- Does kissing this person taint* my character?

- Can I talk about it openly or will I feel guilty or shameful?

- Who am I influencing, positively or negatively, by kissing this person?

- Who is this person to me/How is the foundation & commitment level?

Future

- Does this change our relationship* for better or for worse?

- Will I regret not waiting [for any reason]?

- Who am I attracting to and repelling from us if I kiss this person?

- Is there someone else you should be with?

- Have you considered the wedding being your actual first kiss?

Health

- STDs* – When you kiss, you put yourself at risk* of receiving any diseases, infections, bacteria* and viruses that the other person may have. Herpes and syphilis are just two STDs that are commonly transferred by the mouth.

- Oral Hygiene – Once again, you really swap bacteria when you kiss. The cleanliness with which you maintain your mouth (teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, etc.) is of utmost significance. Most people just talk about bad breath but what about if you have bad oral health in general? Here’s a picture for you: The bacteria that cause gingivitis are also easily passed!

- Allergies – Someone died from kissing someone who ate a PB&J because they were allergic to peanut butter and their death, although not on the spot, proved the kiss fatal. What one ate, obviously, got into the other’s system!

Kissing

More than what it seems when glamorized, agonized and hollywood-ed is the kiss.

Whether you are a casual/social kisser or a conservative type, there never is a time when kissing is apart from the elements of love, passion, affection or attraction.

Casual and social kissing is the type that is done when you meet, greet and say goodbye. It can be considered a part of being hospitable. Everyone feels differently about it. Most people agree that one bad part is lipstick on your cheek. A lot of casual kissing is what goes on in families. You may kiss your newborn fifteen times a day. You may kiss your grandparents every time you see them. Then, you may kiss other relatives at dinners, reunions or other special events and occasions. The same goes for people who host or attend similar functions for friends, co-workers and other acquaintances. Maybe you do it when you go to school with your fellow classmates. Maybe you even do it with anybody and are a majorly casual kisser.

Meanwhile, a conservative kisser may only kiss their spouse and immediate family, those they are intimately related to. These people see there to be no reason to causal kissing and/or value a kiss very highly and/or are wary of the risks of it. It can be fun but they strongly feel that kissing is a sign of intimacy and is something sacred between committed persons.

Disney Princesses

It's often thought that Disney princesses, romantic comedies and fairytales create a negative effect in little girls growing up. It is believed that they give a false sense of what love, romance and life itself are supposed to be like. The unrealistic expectations that the young viewers then hold are held against their generation of males, giving the men another hurdle to leap over before he can be received as her husband.

However, I have seen and felt all of these things along with very many positive effects. The first is that these princesses are role models. Each being different, you realize that there's room for diversity in reality. Even though they often look alike, like how ~~Barbie dolls~~ look alike, their personality is something we can see that we could not get with a doll. In seeing a Disney movie or romantic comedy film, you are viewing a woman on a quest for true love. It's what we all want!! Yet, these princesses haven't been sitting around while waiting for it, either; they actually have lives!!

From Snow White's cottage with the seven dwarfs to Belle's book-reading, Disney princesses had their own interests besides their "prince charming." In fact, they often don't say anything about a guy until the Prince Charming actually arrives into the scene. Ariel just wanted to walk in the real world instead of always being "under the sea" and Cinderella just wanted to break free from her step-family's oppression. Jasmine wanted to get out from under her father and Aurora ("sleeping beauty") wanted to be free to live, outside of her woodsy cabin. They all can sing very well and dress very nicely but they also face problems and have emotions and guess what, they overcome the circumstances!! Sounds a lot like role model material to me!!

I will add more later because I wrote a lot on the subject over a year ago but presently, I don't have the materials.
